When was the last time you stopped to reflect or review your week?
Do you ever find yourself feeling like you are running on empty?
What have you learnt this week?
“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.”
Margaret J. Wheatley

Today’s Tool is “Reflective Practice”. This week you have been introduced to six tools, techniques and activities to try. It has been said that knowledge is power; however it’s applied knowledge that is power. From my personal experience, I have obtained huge amounts of knowledge from reading books, attending courses and from mentors.
I find the key is not to gain lots of knowledge but rather being able to apply what you learn. And often it’s only when we stop and take the time to reflect that we can take the learning from what we read or experience.
What Is Reflective Practice?
Reflective practice is, in its simplest form, thinking about or reflecting on what you do. It is closely linked to the concept of learning from experience. So for example, think about something you did, what happened? Is there anything you would do differently next time? (Taken from at: www.skillsyouneed.com)
Time To Take Action
I want you to reflect on your week by asking yourself the following question (these are different ways you can reflect)
Describe The Experience
What happened this week?
Reflection
How did you behave? How did you feel?
What have you learnt this week?
Theorizing
What behaviors do you think might have changed the outcome?
Experimentation
Is there anything you could do or say now to change the outcome?
What action(s) can you take to change similar reactions in the future?
Reflection allows you to be able to reflect on a situation and take the learning from it. Reflection can help you to look at things from different perspectives.
